G is for Gamesby Alison Tyler |
From backcover: Games of skill and games of chance are rife with sexual possibilities. The clever feint that lets your opponent think he's got the upper hand, the thrill of risking everything on a sudden, bold gambit, the visceral charge of raking in a pile of chips, and then, of course, there's something to be said for cheating… From party games to devilish gambles, here are stories to get you in the mood to play.

While not the most erotic book on my shelf, this is a passable collection of cute stories. I was expecting stories of sex games: Like those board games where the dice dictate the action. Instead, this collection of short stories is mostly about what happens after the bet is lost.
All the stories start out the same, whether it be cards, billiards, Twister or Chess: A bet is made, someone loses, and the consequences are to be paid. Usually one person forces the other to perform a sex act they were unwilling, ashamed, or to bashful to try without the wager situation.
For me, the most interesting story is called Unfinished Business. It is a story very different than all the others because it's about role-playing, not a game of chance or skill. Also it gets deep into the psychology of why people role-play. The people in the story use role playing to act out a fantasy that one person has had trouble facing herself and has the man feeling very guilty about: Spanking. Their role play allow them to do things and say things they themselves can't and this helps them come together. But that is what ties this story into the collection. The loss of control gives them the freedom to break out of their regular routine.
Most of the stories are heterosexual but a few are lesbian and one is a ménages-à-trois with two men and a woman. Although that one story has major male-male action and I didn't really enjoy it.
